12Opportunity ThinkingVideo lesson
Alright, so now that we’ve talked about pain points; those everyday problems that bug people; it’s time to take it one step further.
Opportunity Thinking means shifting your mindset from “Ugh, this is so annoying” to “Hmm… how could this be better?” We train our brain to see problems differently. Instead of getting stuck, upset, or frustrated… we flip it. Instead of walking past these problems We pause and ask:
- What if there was a better way?
- Is there something I can do to fix this?
When you think like this, that’s opportunity thinking! You’re already thinking like an entrepreneur!
Let’s say- Alex loves drawing… but every time he uses his markers, he can’t find the right color, or the caps are missing. He thinks, what if I designed a magnetic, color-coded marker set that clicks together and hangs on the wall?
- Your backpack keeps breaking after a few months You ask, could there be a better design?
- People forget to water their plants You think could there be a reminder app or self-watering system?
Your goal here is not to have a perfect answer right away but to imagine that an answer is possible. Opportunity Thinking is a superpower; once you learn to spot problems as starting points, your brain will always be ready to invent the next big thing.
Remember:- Opportunity is hiding in plain sight.
- Many people walk right past problems and never think twice.
- Entrepreneurs slow down and say: “Wait… that could be better.”
- You don’t have to solve big world problems (yet).
- Start with little annoyances; school, home, hobbies.
- Small solutions can turn into big ideas.
Activity: Let’s practice!
On your worksheet or notebook, write down one problem you face every week. Now ask yourself: What kind of product, service, or tool could help fix this? -
13Solution Mapping: Turning your problem into a plan!Video lesson
Once you’ve spotted a problem and started thinking about the opportunity behind it, it’s time to begin mapping out a possible solution. Here’s how to get started:
1. Ask the Right Questions:
- “How can I make this better, easier, or more fun?”
- “What’s annoying about the current way people do this?”
- “What would a perfect solution look like?”
These questions help you shift from just noticing a problem to imagining a fix. 2. Break It Down: Big ideas can feel overwhelming at first, take your proposed solution and break it into small, doable steps.
- What needs to happen first?
- Who or what is needed to make it work?
- What can be tested quickly?
3. Sketch a Simple Fix: Don’t worry about making it perfect Ask yourself:
- Could this be a new tool?
- A cool app?
- A physical kit or product?
- A change in how something is designed or delivered?
It doesn’t have to be fancy, it just has to help. Even a rough drawing or a simple description is a great start. For Example: The Problem is: "Lunch gets cold before I’m ready to eat it." Your Solution is: Invent a lunchbox with a pop-up heat pad! Step 1: Research how heat pads work. Step 2: Sketch a safe lunchbox with built-in buttons. Step 3: Test your idea at school; ask friends if they’d use it. Step 4: Improve the design. Step 5: Give it a cool name and logo.
We’ll explore each of these steps in more detail in the upcoming lessons
Remember: Every invention starts with a scribble, a sketch, or a small plan. Don’t wait until you’re older. Your ideas matter now. This is your map to bring your big fix to life!" ✍️Activity: Draw your solution map! On a blank sheet, draw a big circle with your problem in the middle. Around it, draw 3–5 bubbles of things that would help fix it. Connect the dots.

Hi there,
Welcome to Module 3: Value Creation
You’ve already explored how to think like an entrepreneur and how to spot problems and opportunities. Now it’s time to learn how to Build What People Need; its called Creating value.
So… what is value?
Value is what you create when you solve a real problem, meet a need, or improve someone’s life.
It’s not just about making money, it’s about making a difference.Think about a product or service you use every day that makes life easier, maybe it’s an app that helps you stay organized, a snack that keeps you going, or a gadget that saves you time. That product has value because it helps you.
That’s what successful businesses do, they create something people actually want and need. And when you understand how to do that, you’re not just building a business, you’re creating impact.
In this module, you’ll learn:
-
What value creation really means
-
Why understanding people’s needs is so important
-
And how solving problems the right way can lead to success!
-
We’ll also explore how you can align your own interests and passions with real-world needs.
That’s the heart of value creation, doing what you care about while making life better for someone else.
When what you love doing also helps other people, you’re not just building a business; you’re building impact.
It means waking up excited to work on something that matters to you and to others.
Now its time to discover how you can create something meaningful, helpful, and powerful starting with the people you want to serve.
